About Walden Local Food
What
Walden Local Food is a Saffron Walden Community Interest Company enterprise (SWCIC). Mainly it operates from a market each and every Saturday on Butcher Row in Saffron Walden. It also supplies school, local businesses and runs a veg box scheme.
We are a "not for personal profit" organisation, and any profits we make will be ploughed back into the local community via projects that support sustainability. We aim our activities will help to increase the amount of wholesome, sustainable food grown locally in our countryside. We give growers a fair price. That's Walden Local Food in a nutshell.
We sell
Seasonal, local and some organic fruit and vegetables, and some treats like local honey and apple juice. See our produce section for more details.

When
Our first market was held in August 2009, and on “day one” the stall attracted over 140 customers, many enthusiastically saying “Fantastic! We have been crying out for this for so long!”
Now, after trading for over 18 months, our customer base continues to grow through satisfaction. The apples may not meet shape specifications of the supermarkets and the pears may not be cosseted in copious amounts of packaging but Walden Local Food offers high-quality, long lasting food.
