We have taken advantage of the Government's Future Jobs Fund project which pays the wages for a six month appointment. Our new employee, Murray Mawson, will start work this Saturday helping Liz Goddard and the volunteers. He will also be helping Liz during the week to source the produce and run the box scheme with the County High School. Pop by to meet Murray this Saturday.
The Farm Club plays an important role in introducing children to local farming and food production. The club is already working closely with Saffron Walden CIC by supplying produce grown on its smallholding for sale at the market and by distributing our vegetable boxes to supporters of Farm Club.
At the recent Farm Club AGM, Saffron Walden CIC's chairman (Dr David Corke) was elected as a community representative to Farm Club's committee.
The next big Farm Club event is their Christmas fayre on Sunday November 29th from 12 noon to 3.30pm. Full details are on the farm Club's website: thefarmclub.co.uk
Launched November 2009, watch it grow.
At last everything is in place for the launch of our weekly Walden Local Food Market: Grants from Uttlesford Distrct Council, Local Food and Big Lottery Fund have covered most of our start-up costs. We have the co-operation of the local (mainly organic) fruit and vegetable growers in the area to keep our stall stocked with local seasonal produce all year round.
