
Storage tips - we would love to hear yours
Beetroot
In a cool, dry place beetroot for a couple of weeks. Leaves - trim off but use them within a day or so.
Brussels sprouts
In a cool place. Use as soon as possible, five days if loose - 10 if still on the stalk.
Cabbage
In the fridge for up to a week. Remove outer leaves if lost firmness. Loses nutrients when cut so use within a few days.
Carrots
In the fridge for a couple of weeks or more.
Celeriac
In the fridge for a couple of weeks or more. Remove the leaves.
Cauliflower
In the fridge, in a paper bag should last at least a week.
Kale
In the fridge, in a plastic bag. Eat soon after buying as become bitter with age.
Mushrooms
In the fridge for a few days, preferably in a paper bag.
Onion
Up to two months in a cool, dry, airy place. Or pop them in a paper bag in the veg rack.
Parsnip
In the fridge salad drawer lasts up to three weeks, in a perforated bag.
Potato
Cool, dry, dark place.
Rhubarb
In the fridge lasts a couple of weeks.
Swede
In the fridge lasts a week or two.
Apples
In a cool place - a week. In the fridge - longer.
Pears
Ripen a few days at room temperature.
